Elsie is a creative independent magazine; it’s the work of one person…his name is Les Jones (that would be me – I’m a designer, photographer and artist based in North Shropshire, England).

I started Elsie Magazine just over ten years ago as a way of bringing all my creative work and interests into one space. I could never have anticipated the journey that that decision would take me on, or the wonderful people and interactions I have had along the way.

Elsie has always been a physical, printed magazine (and that will continue) - however, during the first lockdown in March 2020, I (rather foolishly) committed to producing a digital Elsie Magazine every week, as a way of bringing a little creative light relief to people’s lives during the crisis. It nearly killed me!

I managed to produce eight issues before ‘real’ work took over. However, the experience was really positive and opened new doors and opportunities to interact with an audience in more creative and fluid ways. So, I’ve taken the plunge and launched Elsie as a monthly digital magazine, to sit alongside the printed issues, which are published in a more ad hoc way. I hope you enjoy reading and getting involved with Elsie as much as I enjoy putting it all together.
