Elsie might be a one-man magazine, but really, it’s all about you - lovely, like-minded people who want to be part of a creative community that not only enjoys the Elsie content, but helps to create it too. Take a look at all of the ways that you can get involved…and then sign up and fill your creative boots.
Get involved!
Elsie is about connections and interactions - it’s about the joy of discovering…what happens if…? There are LOTS of ways in which you can get involved once you’ve subscribed - and here they are. Take a look, you can contribute and sign up to be involved in specific on-going themes and projects.

5 things*
Simple but lovely! Register your interest and, if your name is drawn out, I’ll ask you to choose five things from your home that mean something to you and that you’re happy to share with the world. You then provide a picture and a few words about each of your items and that’s it - I put them into an article.
The Playlist*
We all need music in our lives and it’s always great to hear what other people are into. So, put your name in the hat for this and, if chosen, I’ll ask you to provide a playlist of your 10 favourite tracks that Elsie readers can download and play as the soundtrack to the latest edition. You can also tell us a bit about each track and why it’s special to you.
Got it…Got it…Haven’t
This is all about collectors and their wonderful collections. I’m looking for interesting, off-the-wall collections with a visual slant. We’ve featured collections of oil cans, matchbooks, bricks, even empty pork scratchings bags!
So, if you’ve got an interesting collection let me know - and we’ll get it in Elsie Magazine.
Art swapsies
This is cool - every month I’ll be offering out some swaps of my art and photography - all you have to do is offer me something in return - then I’ll publish what swaps went on in the next issue of Elsie. It’s a cool, cashless way to get some new imagery on your walls.
Mail art*
There’s a huge feel-good factor when you receive some mail art through your letter box. So, let’s get some mail art going between us - you send me some and I’ll do the same in return. Use it as an opportunity to spread some creative happiness!
The collage challenge*
Sometimes, all we need to get our creative juices flowing is a gentle prod in the right direction. Each month I’ll be packing ten envelopes with interesting collage materials. Sign up and if your name comes out, I’ll send you an envelope - you just need to provide the collage creativity.
Submit
Do you have an idea for an article for Elsie - something visual, interesting and engaging? Well, all you have to do is produce it and send it in. There are, of course, a few rules to abide by - and you can find those HERE. I’m intrigued to see what you come up with.
Light blue touch paper…
…stand well back! This is a regular Elsie feature about emerging creative talent coming from our colleges and universities. So…universities, get in touch and connect Elsie with your brightest creative sparks and I’ll give them a little space to showcase their talents.
Subscriber stories*
As a subscriber to Elsie Magazine, you’re also part of the story. I’m intrigued to find out more about you - where you are, what makes you tick, how you express your creativity. So, each month, we’ll have an interview with an Elsie subscriber. To take part, all you have to do is register.
10 Layers Challenge*
This is a monthly digital collage challenge. Each month, I’ll be uploading a photoshop file with ten pre-loaded layers. Your challenge is to download said file and use its contents as the palette to create a new piece of digital art. There’s only one rule - you can’t introduce any new content. I’ll be featuring a selection of entries in each Elsie Magazine.
Win some stuff
Each month Elsie will be featuring some really cool creative people and I’m on a mission to get just a little bit of their creativity into your hands. So, I’m going to be cheeky and ask all the people who are featured if they would donate a piece of their work - and I’ll be drawing out some lucky Elsie members to receive them. How cool is that?
The Devilishly Difficult Quiz
Get your thinking caps on - in each edition of Elsie Magazine, you’ll find the Devilishly Difficult Elsie Quiz. Ten visual clues - all you have to do is work them out - send in your answers to hello@elsiemagazine.co.uk with ‘Quiz’ as the subject and you could win a unique piece of Elsie art to put on your wall, or sell on eBay! Try that question above.
Clubs and societies
Are you a member of an interesting club or society? If so, let me know. Each month, I’ll be connecting with fascinating clubs and societies and finding out what draws their members together. Who knows, you might even be compelled to join one or two! I’ve just joined the Telegraph Pole Appreciation Society - well, why wouldn’t you?
Street Photography
Street photography is a passion of mine. So each month, you’ll find a street photography section in Elsie Magazine. I’m going to bring you the work and words of some of the worlds leading street photographers and also feature the work of Elsie subscribers too. So, pick up your camera and head to the streets - when it’s safe to do so, of course.
The Interview
The cool thing about publishing a magazine is that it opens doors that would normally remained closed. The magazine is a reason to connect with people - to tell their stories. So, each month, I’ll be asking the people who inspire me to do an interview for Elsie Magazine so we can all tap into their creativity and wisdom - and hopefully a bit of goss!
Be involved!
If any of the above tickle your pickle and you fancy being involved in a future issue of Elsie, just fill in the form and register your interest.
